So its almost Christmas 2004, the tsunami occurred on Dec. 26. Something will happen to the boat, and contact with the island will be lost – only after the “Oceanic 6” plus a few more make their escape.
Alaa, I was thinking the exact same thing….That tsunami is going to break havok
I think they do the ‘time travel’ thing without any inconsistancies.
Think of it like a big cycle, and the cycle keeps repeating itself over and over. Where the break in the cycle occurs, is when desmond is leaving the island. At this time desmong gets “unstuck” in time (via slaughter house 5 thanks to Kurt Vonnegut… tralmaphadorians??!?!). Now that he is officially unstuck in time, he starts to go back in time (mentally) and begins to understand his new ability. This ability is something that he can use for his entire life, and in his circular frame of reference, gets reset everytime he leaves the island.
Everything that happens to desmond, happens. No matter what he says or does everything that was meant to happen happens. Just like when he tried to escape the loop and marry penny, he couldn’t. The lady told him, the universe has a way of correcting itslef.
Crackpot theory:
Also, Rousseau has been on the island for a very very very long time. She arrived on the ship “the blackrock” and has been there ever since. The island prevents you from aging/dying/becoming ill. (remember the others from when ben left the dharma camp? They were all still healthy looking, the same as they do in 2004).

I think the same person wrecked the radio and opened the door. but when will we find out who that is?
At the end of the episod Daniel was loking at is book and it was written: if something bad happened Desmond would be my constant.
And it was like it was the first time he looks at it or at least understant the meaning
My problem is : how did this sentence was on his book ? He didn’t knew Desmond ! And it seems that this sentence was not added at the end of this episod (I mean present time live)
Daniel didn’t know who Desmond was. I is only when Desmond memory jump through time that they meet.
However, eventhough if at this time (past) Danil wrote the line.
The line wouldn’t have magicaly apperead in Daniel (the present one) book. Because Daniel from the past said that YOU CAN’T CHANGE THE FUTURE FROM THE PAST.
So..the mistery his still there. My second thougt was that Daniel travel throug time, ans stealed his book from Daniel from the future.
However it is only your memorie whish goes frome time to time. So Daniel can’t stell somthing from the past and brougth it in the present time.
So my third though was that Daniel went in the future, read the book from the future, go back in the present time and fills his book from the pesent and then traveled again read it again and so on..
And because of that (going back and forth he fried his memorie).
So I continue…He copie his book but he can’t understand at least some part of it. And it is only know that he as talked to Desmond that he understand was the sentenced mean…because he finaly find desmond.
My final thougth is that (As Jay said it looks like the Desmond we have has kept his past memorie) so my second guess is that the Daniel we have, his memorie is from the future
and due to time constraint he is losing it.
well all this is nonesense. I am sure none of you understand what I meant.

or maybe Daniel from the past was actually wrong …you can change the future by altering the past !!!
Maybe what Daniel was doing at the end was looking for anychange in his book instead of trying to understand a sentence that he couldn’t understand before.
That is why he look desperate because now he knows that you can change the future by altering the past.
So the line was actually written be Daniel from the past (at one time in the past) and actually magicaly appeared in the futur note book !
this is my new theory …
You CAN change the future from the past !
