yay first comment! hehe great podcast as always! thanks Jay and Jack!
OK…..your show is GREAT (my favorite podcast…EVER) but I have to admit that I’ll need to rewatch the ep because (drumroll please) I didn’t like it very much. Now, out of guilt for not liking “Three Minutes” (This is the first time EVER that I haven’t been in love with a Lost episode I might add.) I MUST rewatch and force myself to like it.
That’s weird huh?
Anyway, I think I was most frustrated that while Michael was being asked questions about Walt he was getting all insane & defensive and NOT putting two & two together (ahem…Jay). I mean…HELLO…she was asking questions that a Dr. or some sort (whether it be a GP or a Pshychologist) would ask as a way of looking into their medical history.
Waly shouted “They’re not what they seem”…OF COURSE NOT! They’re scientists in drag! Sorry…I’m all fired up this morning.
Love your podcast as usual. Wow, we finally get to see Walt. It seems that Walt isn’t what the “others†thought that he was. Also there is another list of four people that is important to the others. Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hugo. Walt also says that the others are “pretending†and that they are not who they say they are. And for crying out loud, how does Locke know that Sawyer is James Ford? There was so much to digest in this episode that my head is going to explode. I’m glad they finally dealt with the death of Ana Lucia and Libby. Sawyer had an out of body experience actually revealing to Jack that he was the closest thing to a friend that he has not that Ana Lucia is gone. Charlie exorcises his demons by disposing of the heroin Marys. Locke does his miraculous walking again and is has the call of the wild. I hope nothing happens to Kate. We’re running out of good looking women on the island. Although April Grace made an appearance as the liason between Michael and the others. April Grace is a great interrogator as she played that investigative reporter on Magnolia. And the sailboat? What the hell? I can’t wait for the season finale. **Spoiler Alert** In the previews for the season finale they show Charlie lighting some explosive, Jack finds the door to another hatch, someone is turning a “Dharma keyâ€, Desmond running through the woods, the blast doors come down on Mr. Eko, the countdown reaches zero, Locke is trying to bash the computer, Kate is either shot (oh god no) or falls down and the group of 5 finds hundreds of thermos sized silver canisters with blue caps.
Are we ever gonna see Walts Step Dad again? When they were asking Michael all those questions I kept thinking this might be related to him. What was his name again??
I just wanted to say that I did enjoy the episode, but was very perturbed by Michael’s behavior and nobody calling him out on it. I mean, he got that psycho look on his face when he had to emphasize that it could only be the five of them, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley & himself. The only one with enough sense is Sayid and I hope he ends up coming up with a plan before the losties go towards the others.
I have a feeling those silver canisters are those things that contain the reports from the Pearl Hatch. It’s gotta be sucked out to somewhere, doesn’t it?
David N. mentioned alot of Spoilerific material, but one thing I noticed wrong was that Jack didn’t find a door to another hatch…on the island. It looked to me he was on the Sailboat, b/c I saw a part of the sail behind him as he was kicking it in. At first I thought that the sailboat was the boat Michael was promised by the others, but then I remembered the last episodes was going to have Desmond in it. So, I guess he didn’t get to leave the island after all.
Have you had a chance to go to http://www.letyourcompassguideyou.com? I figured it out to some extent. I couldn’t find the password for Hugh McIntyre anywhere! I guess I’m a total idiot, but then again it was 3:30am!
I can’t wait until next Wednesday, but then again I know I’ll be sad after it comes and goes. This will mean we won’t have a Lost fix until the fall! I hope I can keep up with the Lost Experience because I really don’t watch anything else on ABC to keep me looking for the Hanso Foundation commercials.
Keep up the good work and I look forward to your podcasts every week!
What do Walt, Jack, Kate, Hurly and Sawyer have in common? This is what we need to focus on. Except for Hurly, all of them have parents that at one point or another we have suspected to be linked to Dharma. Walt’s Mom or step-Dad have been suspected. Jack’s Dad has been suspected. Kate’s Dad has been suspected. I’ve often wondered about Sawyer’s Dad. And with Hurly, maybe we’ll find out something in a future flashback. Anyway, my point is that Walt, Jack, Kate, Hurly, Sawyer (and Locke, Aaron, maybe Charlie and Eko) are all apart of the core people that Dharma brought to the island. The parents of these core Losties were not only Dharma, but Dharma participants who may have passed on something genetically to their offspring. The “second generation” core Losties need to be back on the island for Dharma to determine if the genetic code was successful passed down. It seems that although Walt exhibited super natural powers Dharma has no need for him anymore. He either doesn’t have it, or they are done with him. Dharma now needs to move done the list. One of these core Losties holds the answer that Dharma is looking for.
Much as I hate to possibly cost Jack a tally, I have to say “Three Minutes” wasn’t one of the high points of this season, or the series. Lots of little reasons why. Perhaps it suffered from being sandwiched between an awesome episode (“?”) and the finale, perhaps it’s because Michael’s been gone so long we can’t empathize with him (if we ever did), perhaps it’s because the island flashback format gave us one too many scenes we’ve seen before. But whatever it was, it felt off to me. The dialogue, the pacing, the dramatic balance… it seemed flat.
The Mrs. Klugh scenes gave us clues, Sawyer’s confession to Jack was an eyebrow raiser, and it’s nice to see Claire softening up to Charlie (and Charlie tossing the statues for real… though of course they’ll be back). And the Mr. Eko/Locke flip-flop is intriguing. So the stage is set, at least.
I’m excited about the season finale. But a little bit worried, too.
***********Includes spoilers from preview***********
I loved this episode! Even though I was frustrated too, I thought Michael was too transparent…I kept thinking Jack is too smart for this! Duh, I think I would like John and Sayid with me. No offense, but Hurley is not exactly at fighting weight.
David N, the thermos things were the vacuum tubes we saw in the pearl hatch.
I agree with Lostlubbr, Jack was jumping into the boat not a hatch, he had a gun in his hand, so I think it is later, not when he was swimming out to the boat at the end of 3 minutes. Also we see Jin and Sayid on the boat, so I think Sayid and Jin are going to take the boat and go around the island, to ‘back-up’ the group heading out…..so that’s when Jack jumps on the boat.
About the questions that Mrs. Clue asked Michael…
Did that remind anyone of when Michael was trying to get custody of Waaaaaalt? “You don’t know anything about him but you want him back?” I thought he kinda got a funny look on his face when she said that.
Forgot to mention, thought it was funny they revealed Anna Lucia’s last name: Cortez, and said it at the funeral, but still did not say Libby’s last name.
hey jay & jack!
okay… i couldn’t see the thumbnail on my ipod when you had that screen capture of the compass – and i have a crap memory and can’t recall if you mentioned that you saw the numbers around the thing… anyway – i emailed y’all a screen capture of them in case you need.
see the 108 degrees???
4 8 15 16 23 42
108 x 2 = 216 which is another degree on that compass
252 – 216 = 36 (a degree that’s across from those numbers on the compass)
288 – 252 = 36…
324 – 288 = 36
oh. duh. so every chunk on that compass is 36 degrees
WAIT… wait… maybe every 36degrees there’s a frigging hatch! (pardon me if you already thought this… i am a little on the slow side and i hate math)
maybe 10 hatches (then there’s a little 270 degrees one… maybe that’s a portapotty… no idea) OR maybe the 270 is where the bank vacuum tube thingamabob info GOES….
at the moment i only have 4 cups of coffee in me, so i am not even going to attempt the 252degrees (+3.077) etc etc (maybe later, but then again, i’d become russell crowe in a beautiful mind…. who was schitzophrenic…. who had an imaginary friend…. like hurley…
libby (or stalker woman in Dharma) who was in the looney bin (at least I’m an orange) keeping her eye on hurley…
maybe hurley is “HIM”?!?!!
my head hurts.

so I get home last night after work (around 12:30AM and the first thing I do is grab the dvd i burned with the new Lost on it. I go upstairs to watch it, but… I forgot to change the channel when I went to work! So I have an hour and a half of Nickelodeon. Well, at least my son will be happy! So, youre wondering why Im telling ya this I bet. I watched the streamed episode this morning, and I did like it. Only bad part is it doesnt have the preview for next week. Im glad Sayid was smart enought to see through Michael. Some people arent sympathizing (sp?) with Michael, but as a father of a 6 year old boy (and 2yr old girl) I can sympathize with him to a point. I still dont know why he had to kill Ana Lucia.
Anyways(ding!) does anyone know where I can get the preview for next week? Youtube maybe? thanks!
Hey Jack.
I am not annonymous. this is ralph- and i just want to let you know that i did not enjoy this show that much. here is the main reason why.
In this episode the show spent way too much time using footage from “The Hunting Party”. i love lost, but i hate when we see the “Previously on lost” at the beginning of the episode, and then get reminded all over again during “flashbacks”. i feel that the 13 days ago title cards, made for poor story telling as well as poor writing and poor editing. there are smart ways of getting us in and out of flashbacks. In Maternity Leave, the editers used a sound to signify that we were going into one of Claire’s island flashback. this episode felt like Filler, and it fell really lazily thrown together and uninteresting. Based on the title of the show, and what we have seen michael do over the past 2 episodes, we could have figured all of this information out ourselves.
we knew that michael let Gale go. we knew that he saw the others. we all assumed that he was setting up the other survivors, and luring them into a trap. with this episode, it takes away any element of surprise to us that may have doubted it.
i have to agree with everything that ryan mentioned above, and i hope he is wrong about the finale. i want it to be great.
after coming off of the “Dave” and “SOS” letdown, i was really happy when “Two For the Road” and “?” blew me away! i was really fired up for what was going to come of “Three Minutes” and “Live Together Die Alone”, but Three Minutes knocked me back down to where i was after watching SOS, and listening to my podcast on SOS, you know where i stood.
I am keeping my fingers crossed with the season finale, but i have a feeling that it will make or break a lot of lost fans. i have a feeling that if this finale does not deliver, than Jay and Jack will have a lot less downloads next season.
Damon and Carlton better hit this one out of the park!
ralph-
by the way, i have much more to rant about, but i allready talked about it at scott and steve’s page.
ToddinSanDiego
youtube is the best place to go for previews.
Here you Go, Todd in San Diego!

Well I will be another who will say that I did not like this episode that much. Forwarding the storyline is nice don’t get me wrong. However, setting up the finale with a fallacy in simple logic takes away from the immersion in the story itself. The point where I was drawn out of the story was the conversation between Jack and Michael about who will go help get his son.
Michael, half-crazed and shot, commands Jack to go now to get his son. Jack, the man of science and reason, the ultra-intelligent doctor, agrees and wants to gather some people to do it.
Mike goes even more crazy and demands only Sawyer, Jack, Hurley and Kate go specifically. At that very moment, Jack should see something was clearly wrong with this man. Cmon Jack is not stupid. He would think, “Why is Mike here demanding Kate and Hurley to go rescue his son? I can understand keeping the group small for surprise, but wouldn’t a group of Sawyer, Locke (or Eko), Sayid, and myself make much more sense here?”
Yet Jack does not so much as bat an eyelash before agreeing and even arguing later with Sawyer about having Sayid, a republican guard solider, to join them.
This for me was a HUGE lapse in the basic logic of a character just to advance the storyline. I did not buy into it sorry guys.
chappy,
the worse thing about this, is that it seems that after all of that, Jack still seems confused by Sayid mentioning that michael might be compromised. at the moment that Sayid said that, jack should have said,”Yeah, I’ve noticed it too.”. that way Jack does not look like a fool.
thanks Ralph! I appreciate your effort! I have watched it and can wait for next week! I also feel a little disappointed in “Three Minutes” but that will only make next week better, right?
thanks again Ralph, you tha man!
I liked last night’s episode even though Michael was about as obvious as one could be about being compromised. It was sad to see with all the smart people on the show, including a CON MAN, the only one that could figure it out was Sayid. Anyway, I checked out the http://www.letyourcompassguideyou.com and found some interesting things. First, once you get past the compass and get to the .bash prompt asking if you are one of the good ones, which I answered yes to. Seems that Hugh McIntyre and Peter Thompson are/were working on a deal with Dailmer Chrysler for a purchase of 23 Jeep products. Peter has some info under his Mail profile with a few pics of letters exchanged between Hanso and Chrysler but also found a bunch of binary code on his profile that translates to “The Mouth Piece”. Not sure what it means but it seems to relate to Hugh as he is the PR guy for Hanso. I also found a login for both users – noclobber. Haven’t been able to make either of them work yet though. Does anyone here know Linux very well? It seems a lot of the stuff in the profiles relate to linux .bash commands but I don’t know enough to understand what the code does. Jay and Jack – Great podcast!! I listen to it every week as soon as it comes out! Also, it was cool to hear you all are originally from San Diego. First time I heard the show I though you said Brawley, CA, which is out by Glamis. Us San Diegan’s will continue to represent for you!!! Keep up the awesome work!
So I learned a little more – noclobber is a linux command to keep a file from being overwritten, if any of you care. I am still digging for that dang password. Anyone had any luck finding it yet?
Sorry – last post – I found a reference to The Mouth Piece on this picture – http://www.letyourcompassguideyou.com/usr/hmcintyr/mail/139191991471518711419.jpg
Could the reason the other’s want Hurley be because of his knowledge of the numbers? Or his knowledge of Leonard? We know the numbers play a huge role in the show, and that the person the numbers have affected the most is Hurley, i think this must have something to do with why he was on Michael’s list.
OMG
*********spoilery about preview*********
okay you can just watch the preview on lostlinks.net and watch it agian and pause it when they show jin and sayid, it looks like they are on a boat!!! there is like a sail and ropes and no duh, water just wanted to know what they thought…
As regards to Hurley being wanted by the Others… I believe it was said that they’ve all “seen” things. Hurley makes perfect sense now, and here’s why:
Jack has “seen” his father on the island.
Sawyer has “seen” the boar
Kate has “seen” the horse
Hurley has “seen” his nutty imaginary friend Dave.
Sorry, Jack,
I’d have to join Ralph, Ryan and Chappy. This might have been my least favorite episode so far. It was a total filler episode as I wrote in my recap http://www.lostfreaks.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1228#1228 .
There were too many old scenes, weird character development (How crazy was Mike and why didn’t anyone notice?) and few revelations… 😐
Still I am all psyched up for the finale! 🙂
C.
Am listening to your podcast now and had to respond to your comments, Jack, that in all of TV, people can always knock someone out by hitting them once with the butt of a gun. The only example I could think of was from a movie so technically, you still may be right, but in Conspiracy Theory, Mel Gibson’s character has to hit Cylk Cozart’s character twice with the butt of the gun in order to knock him out 🙂
The binary code found at http://www.letyourcompassguideyou.com translates to “the mouth piece”, a phrase which is also found in the Jeep ad at http://www.letyourcompassguideyou.com/usr/hmcintyr/mail/139191991471518711419.jpg
Enter the password “the mouth piece” (3 words, all lower case) on the Hugh McIntyre bio page to learn Hugh’s been having an affair with a high maintenance woman.
Where’s the pics for this week?
hey Jay, I think the “Rock-sling-shotty thingy” is called a Bolo (sp?)
oh wait, it’s a bolero. a bolo is a necktie I think. thanks!
Didn’t anyone else think that the frantic hug Walt gave Michael seemed to be shot in a fashion that usually indicates some ulterior motive? It was like he was slipping a note into his hand or something…
That’s definatley possible, I was listening closely to see if he whispered anything to him.
DID ANYONE ELSE THINK IT WAS REALLY ANNOYING how Zeke was clean in the new scenes and then **POOF** he was dirty in “The Hunting Party” meeting with Jack, Sawyer and Locke, then **POOF** he was clean again when he came back to talk to Michael????? I’m pretty sure it was just a production error, but when we are trying to analyze something this closely that kind of thing is just really FREAKING ANNOYING!!!!!
Or how about how in “The Hunting Party” Jack, Locke and Sawyer heard 7 shots, and when they found the bullet mark on a tree is was dense forest with a small clearing….. but when we saw what happened, it was just a few bushes and sagebrush, AND there were 8 shots!!! CONSISTANCY PEOPLE, COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!
Another great podcast!!
Keep up the great work guys!
Check out http://www.enterthecode.com 🙂
Hey Jay and Jack, isn’t it great that MYOKOM with SAS is back? How about giving them a shoutout/promo on your new podcast. Awesome job as always with the podcast. Love you both and thanks for the effort! 🙂
The numbers in the brackets on the “letyourcompassguideyou” site coorespond to tangents for those specific degree marks – ie: TAN36 = +.726542….. TAN324 = -.726542, etc. BUT, their’s two flaws with this – TAN90 & TAN270 are not 0 (zero), it’s undefined. And what does all this mean????….. i’m still working on it, but my hopes aren’t all that high.
~scott (not steve)
Alot of complaints about the episode but yno this is just a prelude to the finale…. Gotta setup up first.
2 questions about episode 3 mins
How come they now have a list? I thought they never completed it. Did Walt complete it? Did Michael?
There’s alot of talk about Michael seeing Walt and Walt being on the other side of the world but I thought Walt did not even know Michael to be his father until Michael came and got him?
