You guys are missing the boat with Eko.
This is the guy who is “supposedly”
    1) A tracker
    2) “born again”

Why is he such a great tracker? We didn’t see anything like that in his flashback. We see that Jack is a doctor, Charlie is a herione addict, etc…Eko is just a cold-blooded killah in his flashback. Eko is the one who guided not just the Tailies to the other side of the Island, but also took the Fusies who were over there back with him…he didn’t let them continue to explore. Eko knew where the Others were and where he was going because he is in-kahootz with them. I don’t think he is a preacher, it is a cover or a ploy (for what reason, I don’t know). Remember, a tiger doesn’t change his stripes…the theme that people don’t change…why does Eko get a pass? He’s bad news bears. He also finds the Bible with the film and gives it to Locke.

    That’s all. Great shows, ps.

  2. Rachel says:

Hey did anyone notice that the numbers are on the top of the prescription bottles?

  3. Barb B says:

    Hey Jay and Jack,

Jack always refers to the underwater hatch. Where did all the people go that were in the “hatch” with Claire and Ethan?? I think after Claire was saved by Alex(?) they all went through that underwater hatch to a Darma submarine. How else would you get off that island without the Losties seeing a plane/helicopter fly over the island or hear a boat or ship. What do you think?

  4. Merry says:

While the contents may indeed be vile, I do believe the receptacles themselves are known as “vials.” Hmm, spelling error, or Freudian slip? I see a theory about the contents causing disease, rather than curing it… creating dependency, until one cannot live without it….

Of course, you use more “i’s” than generally used to spell Oceanic, and the its/it’s demon has struck again – obviously rushed. Sorry to nitpick – I grant that my own spelling deteriorates when writing for public consumption (like on the blackboard – I can never spell when writing on a blackboard in front of my students).

    I love you anyway.

  5. RinjoNjori says:

This episode was by far the second best of the season behind Another 48 days. hardly anything about it was week and part of me expected a really lame episode considering it centered around Claire.
    Great things about this Episode
    – Clean Shaven “Zeke”
    – “Benevolent” Ethan
    – “The List” making a reappearance.
    – “He is going to be angry” I bet He is henry Gale.
    – Merging of groups of “Others”
    – Pushing forward the theory that the sickness is real.
    – Dharma employees running Rampant (In the Operating Room) in the Asclepius hatch.
    – Rousseau “asking” Kate to shoot her
    – “Alex” helping Claire Escape and Rouseau actually saving Claire from herself.
    – “The Other’s” Ethan and Goodwin being established as true sociopaths. Able to act like compassionate people one second and Snapping someone’s neck with your arms or a rope the next second.

    Theory about the List:

The list isn’t about “good” or “bad” people in the traditional sense. I think there is much more that goes into “the list” than whether you shot the man who killed your unborn baby (Ana-Lucia), Kissed your patients daughter after you failed to save his life (Jack), etc. I think the list has to do with either people who will be “good” for experimentation by Dharma or “Bad” for experimentation. Not getting “taken” is starting too look much better and “The Other’s ” much more evil.

  6. ralph says:

The real question is, Why is Dharma creating and distibuting theatrical glue to it’s employees? this experiment runs deeper than we know! Is Dharma More involved with the monitering of the island, than we have thought? who is the person that said,”you need to put on disguises…and here is some spirit gum and a fake beard!”? very strange. Were the planes on the mobile just a scewed representation of Claire’s Memory? if the Oceanic Mobile was real, than YES Mr. H.J., Dharma knowingly caused Oceanic Flight 815 to crash land on Mystery Island!

  7. ralph says:

if that IS alex (which in my opinion she is), this might explain that dharma has a program dedicated to Accelerated Growth! She looked a lot older than 16, aaron looks a lot older than 3 or 4 weeks old, and if walt comes back this season, then he will appear 2-3 years older (as malcom david kelly should) in the short time Walt been gone.

  8. ralph says:

…you do not want to do accelerated growth procedures on adults, just children.

  9. Barb B says:

OK – here are my thoughts/comments.

I have heard rumors about an “underwater hatch” being uncovered soon. How could all of those people working in the Medical Hatch when Claire was there just disappear after Claire was saved by “Alex”? She was captive for 2 weeks, in which Ethan had her drugged with some kind of drug to make her forget or just to keep her under his control. When Claire, Kate and Rouseau got to the hatch look at how it was covered. Leaves, branches and a tarp plus the door looked old and rusty. They have only been on the island for 50+ days and it doesn’t seem to rain that often. Someone took the time to cover that door like that. There is no way all those people got off the island without the Losties seeing/hearing a plane or ship/boat. If there is an underwater hatch that could be how they got off the island without anyone seeing or hearing. It just seems that way too much time has passed between the time that Claire was in the medical hatch and them going there now. I mean there was nothing left – not a table, paper, nothing but those few items we saw. Even the other hatch that Ana Lucia was in was desolate and old looking – like a huge period of time had passed since it was used. An “incident” occurred but exactly when. How could the medical hatch be occupied then just abandoned that fast?? Not only abandoned but old as well.
I also think Mr Friendly has Alex(?). I think the drug they injected into Claires belly is some kind of physic enhancing drug or maybe mixed with an excellarated growth drug. I think they are keeping Walt to intensify his powers(?) with that drug as well. Alex may have been abducted for the same reason. Mr Friendly and his “others” have been left by Darma. They did not do what they were supposed to do and Darma left them.
Let me know what you think.

  10. Elka says:

Did anyone else notice how ridiculously fake that rubber baby looked when Claire was carrying it on the beach right before Libby hypnotized her? The rubber arm even flopped over and Claire grabbed it and held it up again . . .

Anyways (ding) Jay and Jack are on the “New and Notable” page in iTunes. Now it’s time for all you listeners to leave them good iTunes reviews so that they can keep me company on the “Fan Favorites” page!

See? I’m not bitter that J&J just knocked me down a notch in the ‘top subcribed podcasts’ rankings! Keep up the good work, guys!

  11. Illini Mac says:

I noticed in the hallway of the new bunker, there was a half door that said “Escape Hatch” over the top. I find that to be a little strange. Maybe it is just a path to the ladder type exit that we saw with the first hatch, but I can’t explain why this stuck out to me. An Escape Hatch brings to mind a space ship or airplane. I would expect something like that to be labeled a “Emergency Exit” or something of that nature. Maybe the fuselage like look of the hallway makes the naming of the “Hatch” more odd to me. Crackpot theory – they are still on a plane? just kidding …. or not….

  12. RinjoNjori says:

    The Best Crackpot Theory…

The person being taken is … Libby. I don’t think so…

BTW Jay, Ethan said, “They figured out I wasn’t on the plane”, not anything about the manifest.

Also, you are obviously Step Father (Jack) and Step Son (Jay)…

  13. Damien says:

I was wondering about that escape hatch…im thinking underwater hatch…if theres a problem theres ya way out of there…either that or it comes out at a tree or somink but im banking on underwater hatch and dont forget there was that bigspaceship1 theory a while back on one of the lost sites…so maybe something to do with that…another great lost podcast guys

  14. Sandro says:

    Hello folks,

Listening to four or more of your podcasts, I would like to suggest one thing, that I believe is missing from other podcasts too.

You should take more time evaluating theories, not the crazy ones, but the apparent simpler, boring, obvious or not so radically new ones.

When dismissing theories saying things like, “oh, it’s all an experiment, Skinner type, etc.”, “Oh, but that is too obvious”, “oh, so everybody’s dead theory again”, “Oh, it’s a dream”, “Oh, it can’t be aliens stuff, nobody would accept that”. Hey, I believe it could well be a very “simple”, “boring”, “not new” theory, but one that is very well made, deep, with not so obvious roles for the characters. For instance, what if “the others” are the ones who are dead? What if the ones lost are the real aliens? etc.

Also, you seem to think that in the end there will be this GREAT GRAND REVELATION that would solve it all. I don’t believe that one bit. If I was a writer, I would rely on the perennial humanity quest as a motif for the last episodes, not a new fact only. I mean, if the characters are all dead, that could be given away earlier and bit by bit, so as, for instance, we were left wondering how they died, who died, why, etc., for many episodes.

Or if the “real truth” invoves some sort of alien stuff. Even so, it could well be “reavealed” well before the last episode, made months before, to leave room and time for the real classical drama type, tested by classical literature (good vs evil, love, etc.).

If I was the one writing lost, I wouldn’t worry so much as to WHAT is the truth, but as to HOW to present it in an interesting and dramatic way.

Your descriptions of alternative endings are simply too short, curt, rude. You should really try to go deeper into a couple of theories, to make it more interesting. To give one more example, try to describe the plot to any major sci-fi movie…it would sound ridiculous or uninteresting if described in a curt, rough manner. But what made movies/series like 2001, Star Trek, Star Wars, Blade Runner, etc. interesting was not only the idea, but the execution. There lies the genious.

Nietzsche once said that the genious truly appears behind constraints. What better constraint than a seemingly old, tested, uninteresting SOLUTION? a well writen drama, and THAT’s what lost is all about.

    Thanks anyway, hope this helps.

  15. ralph says:

jay and jack, you guys rock! keep up the good work, cant wait for monday’s special show…i have a feeling i know what it involves, but i wont spoil it!

  16. ralph says:

i just listen to all your past shows over the course of the last break. i dont recall jack saying anything about Danielle being in cahoots with Desmond or not. I am not saying that he didn’t, i just dont remember. i though you guys had all your ‘talley worthy’ claims written down? oh well. i would say, just give Jack a talley, but that wouldn’t be fair, because what if by the end of season two, jack’s theories start to fall into place, and shoots above Jay? then i would feel bad for Jay for giving Jack a freebie.

i guess we should go to the tape. but i dont want to do it alone.
I will listen to the first 4 episodes. does anyone else want to volunteer for the “Save Jack’s Talley Count Foundation”?

  17. Roger says:

    Great show as usual gentleman.

Why does nobody seem to find it strange that out of the ten or so lockers Super Kate could have opened she happened to open Zeke’s?

  18. Elka says:

Roger– dude, the show’s only 45 minutes long!

No, you do have a point. Why would they take the monkey wall hanging and leave the box of beard? Priorities, people!

  19. ccolpaulnyc says:

Remember when Zeke was talking with Ethan outside of the door to the baby’s room and shut the door?
During that conversation, Zeke kept referring to “he” and “him,” meaning the big boss.
I don’t think Zeke was referring to Alvar Hanso.
I think “he” is Henry Gale.
Hence, Henry Gale is not only an Other but an important Other.

  20. vsquared says:

No one seemed to mention the fact that the shadows left in the nursery when Claire and Rosseau revisited the hatch looked eriely like the heiroglyphics showing on the clock.

A theory that I am thinking may be true is that the illness is real and released if the button is not pushed. the “vaccine” helps protect those whose job it is to push the button. Maybe this is what happened to Rosseau’s group

  21. Uncle Igmar says:

I just had an incredibly “head slapping moment”. With all the talk about “Wizard of Oz” references, his one – possibly the biggest – at least to me – just hit me this very moment.

I apologize in advance if someone else mentioned it already – sometimes I am a ltitle slow on the uptake.

Flight 815 originated in Australia AKA “Down Under” – but also AKA “Oz”.

OK – maybe not that exciting – but there it is – just a thought.

    Igmar
