Desmond said that he was on a trip around the world when he was stranded on the island.
Desmond asked Locke “Are you him?” meaning his replacement.
Henry Gale said he was on a trip around the world when his balloon crashed on the island.
Perhaps Henry Gale was Desmond (or the pre-Desmond guy…I forget his name) replacement. The scowling look is of contempt because these guys are in his hatch and are mucking up whatever experiment/purpose he came to island for.
PS…all the literary references in the show are cool and fun to research, but (in my opinion) have no real impact on the plot.
Um – Henry Gale said he was crossing the Pacific in his balloon – not on a trip around the world.
Juat a question guys – when do you post your MP3 versions on the Lost Podasct Network – or your own MP3 site?

Handsome Jack, how do you explain Rose needing CPR to survive the “plane crash”? You seem really steadfast about your “Rose and Bernard set up the crash and Rose knew Bernard was all right” theory, however she barely survived. If she was pretending to be out of breath she would have stopped while Boone was doing it. The fact that she began to breathe again only once Jack was performing the procedure would makes it a lot more likely she wasn’t faking.
Oooo I think Roger has you Jack.

Dharma staged the plane crash. Rose and Bernard work for Dharma. I’m sure Rose took some kind of drug that made Jack and Boone believe she was not breathing.

As we saw at the end of last season’s “24” – death can be faked – as long as you have someone standing by with a pretty damned big needle full of adreneline and epiniphrine (sp) – to drive into the heart of the death faker. Since I didn’t notice Tony Almeda hanging around in the background with said really big needle – all we had was Doctor Jack and lifeguard Boone – neitehr of whom looked like they were performing CPR quite the right way.
Jack – I think you may have out Crackpotted yourself here.

And another thing – I may just buy into the “Dharma staged the plane crash” idea in a weak moment – and I know that the Hanso Foundation is capable many miraculous things – but I am not sure they have developed a drug that can be counteracted by a couple of knuckleheads just happening by and ineffectively pushing on your chest. I just don’t see the great and powerful – yeah I got my “Wizard of Oz” reference in there – minds at Hanso coming up with something like that.
Just another thought.

Aw, come on! Bernard was way too excited to hear that Rose was alive when they met up with Michael and the crew in the other arrow hatch. I’m not buying the Rose and Bernard thing. I think if it was true, we would have seen much more of them. Love ya, Jack, but I gotta say no.
Ditto on the tally point thing. You should include a picture of the tally board on the AAC feed.
Even though I still think you guys have the best LOSTcast, I was screamin’ at my mp3 player this week over a couple of obvious things you totally missed:
1) You kept askng why Danielle wanted Sayid to have Henry Gale. She told him why! She said to Sayid that she wanted him to follow her into the jungle because she wanted to take him to “something that will help you.” The reason she wanted Sayid to torture Henry is that she wanted the LOSTaways to have whatever information she thinks Henry has. My theory is that she has come to realize that she needs the LOSTaways’ help to overcome the Others.
2) You totally missed the Wizard of Oz easter eggs! “Henry Gale” is the name of Dorothy’s uncle, and he arrives in a balloon! Hellooo??

You are so right about Dorothy and the Good Witch. I would have knocked the crap out of her too!!!! I have been stuck in this stupid place for how long and then you tell me to click the heels of my shoes three times to go home???? I would have click something – those heels against her head!!!! I love your podcast and am usually laughing loud and hysterically at work.

Martyn, those are 2 different pictures in different areas of the hatch. Your link is definitely one of trees, but the other one is a balloon.
Actually… the more I look at them, the more confusing it is… they might actually be the same picture, and the podcast screencap is just horrible resolution. Can’t tell
